Which hand should play what?

Which hand should play what?

Hello, so on this piece I’m trying to figure out which hand should play the melody and which hand should play the chords. However, I know that the left hand is for bass clef notes.

I’m thinking that LH: should play the notes,
RH: for the chords?

Hi there,
Normally in a chord piece like this, you play the melody with your right hand. This makes the melody stand out and is what we normally expect to hear if for example singing along. The left hand plays the accompaniment to support the melody with chords (which you can play in many different ways).

Since this is a typical "chord piano" piece, there is no bass clef for the left hand since you'll be making up the accompaniment using the chord markings.

Once you're more confident playing chord piano, you can experiment by playing the melody in the left hand as a variation. But generally, you'd start by doing as I wrote above.
