Polyvios Androutsos (Ph.D.) is a Music Education Specialist & Researcher. He has published numerous papers and articles in Greek and international music education journals, two books, and is also co-author of the 8th and 9th grade music textbooks for general public schools. He has given lectures and held seminars and workshops in Greece and abroad and has taught music in special schools, primary and secondary schools, as well as music education courses at the Department of Music Science and Arts of Macedonia University, and at the Department of Early Childhood Education at the Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki. Currently he serves as Music Education Specialist at the School of Primary Education of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He has also taught extensively in music teachers' further education seminars and served in critique committees of the Pedagogical Institute and the Institute of Educational Policy for textbooks and supplementary teaching materials.

Dr Androutsos is a founding member of the Greek Society for Music Education (G.S.M.E.), where he served as president (1997-2003, 2006-2007), as vice-president (2003-2006), and in June 2007 was elected Honorary President. He served as a member of the Board of Directors (2006-2010) of the International Society for Music Education (ISME), reviewer of the International Journal of Music Education: Practice (2004-2010), and Chair of the 30th ISME World Conference in 2012. He is also a member of the Scientific Committees of the Musical Pedagogics and mus-e-journal.
