In June 2023, our beloved colleague, pianist, and friend, Maria Elizabeth Lewander Androutsos, suddenly and prematurely passed away. Maria was a founding member of the Greek Society for Music Education, a member of the Piano Pedagogy Group of GSME, where she also served as its chair, and a member of the first educational music performance by Kroustophono, "Peter... and the Wolf?"
Maria with the tender heart and the adventurous soul. Maria, the partner of Polyvios Androutsos, honorary president of the Greek Society for Music Education. Maria, the mother of Zacharias and Philippos. Our Maria.
It is impossible to express in words our unspeakable sorrow over Maria's death. Just as it is impossible to forget all the beautiful and significant things we shared with her. Her kindness and discretion. The beauty of her soul. Her clear gaze. The magical way she had of playing and teaching music with love, method, creativity, and inspiration. Her loss leaves not only the Greek Society for Music Education but the entire music education community poorer.
In memory of Maria, a volume has been lovingly and carefully compiled, which includes her writings from conferences and articles published in journals, her biography, and memories from relatives, friends, colleagues, and loved ones. You can download this volume in electronic form from the link below:

Maria, we thank you for all the precious things you gave us over the years.
Our deepest condolences to her family, students, and loved ones. Polyvios, Zacharias, and Philippos, we stand by your side.
